A Chara,

Ar an 14 Eanáir 2005 tháinig poblachtaigh ó gach cearn d’Éirinn le chéile i dTeach an Ardmhéara i mBaile Átha Cliath chun ceiliúradh a dhéanamh ar chéad bliain ó bunaíodh Sinn Féin. Ceithre bliana ina dhiaidh sin ar an 21 Eanáir 2009 d’fhill breis agus mile poblachtach ar Theach an Ardmhéara do chomóradh 90 bliain ó bhí An Chéad Dáil Éireann ann, agus bhí na céadta amuigh as siocair go raibh an áit lán go doras. Ar an 23 Deireadh Fómhair 2013, rinne muid ceiliúradh ar chrógracht an ghnáthlucht oibre le linn Fhrithdhúnadh 1913 ag Teach an Ardmhéara.

Dé Sathairn 16 Samhain beimid ag óstáil ócáid thábhachtach stairiúil eile chun comóradh a dhéanamh ar 100 Bliain ó bunaíodh Óglaigh na hÉireann. Bunaíodh é le linn slógadh poiblí sa Rotunda i mBaile Átha Cliath i Samhain 1913.

Chun comóradh a dhéanamh ar an eachtra thábhachtach pholaitiúil seo i stair na hÉireann agus i stair an phoblachtachais tá mé ag scríobh chugat chun cuireadh a chur ort freastal a dhéanamh ar lá speisialta d’imeachtaí Dé Sathairn, 16 Samhain 2013 agus is é an deireadh a bheidh leis ná léiriú drámaíochta agus slógadh ag an Rotunda ar Shráid Pharnell, Baile Átha Cliath, ar 7.30pm.

I rith an lae beidh réimse d’imeachtaí ann, lena n-áirítear:
• Taispeántas ar Óglaigh na hÉireann – Seomra Pillar Rotunda 11am-5pm. Bealach isteach ar Chearnóg Pharnell Thoir SAOR IN AISCE. Bain taitneamh as an taispeántas is mó d’iarsmaí stairiúla atá tiomanta do chomhthéacs agus scéal Óglaigh na hÉireann 1913-2013 a mhíniú.
• Siúlóidí na Reibiliúnach – Teacht le chéile ag Siopa Shinn Féin, 58 Sráid Pharnell Thiar. Tosaíonn na turais ar 12.00 meánlae, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm Costas: €5 an duine. Éist leis an scéal faoin troid ar son na saoirse in Éirinn á inse ag Poblachtaigh na hÉireann. Tabhairt cuairt ar na háiteanna as ar eascair stair na hÉireann.
• Seoladh Oifigiúil Leabhair agus Léacht – “The Rotunda – Birthplace of the Irish Volunteers- Óglaigh na hÉireann”, le hAengus Ó Snodaigh, TD. Seomra Pillar Rotunda, 6pm.
• Léiriú Drámaíochta ar Chruinniú Bunaithe Óglaigh na hÉireann 1913. Aitheasc ina dhiaidh ón gcainteoir Gearóid Mac Ádaimh, TD. Seomra Pillar Rotunda, 7.30pm. Bealach isteach ar Chearnóg Pharnell Thoir.

Mar gheall ar an spéis mhór atá á léiriú san ócáid seo, is cinnte go mbeidh sé lán go doras agus mar sin de ní mór áiteanna a chur in áirithe roimh ré. Seol RSVP ar ais chuig stephen.mcglade@oireachtas.ie nó +353 01 6184010 roimh an 10 Samhain lena chinntiú go mbeidh tú in inmhe freastal ar an ócáid thábhachtach seo.

A Chara,

On 14thJanuary 2005 republicans from across Ireland came to the Mansion House in Dublin to celebrate the centenary year of the foundation of Sinn Féin. Four years later on 21st January 2009 over a thousand republicans returned to the Mansion House for the 90th anniversary of An Chéad Dáil Éireann, with many hundreds outside as the venue was filled to capacity. On 23rd October 2013 we celebrated the bravery of working people during the 1913 Lockout.

On Saturday 16th November we will be hosting another important historical event to mark the 100th anniversary of the foundation of Óglaigh na hÉireann- the Irish Volunteers. It was established at a public rally in the Rotunda in Dublin in November 1913. To commemorate this important political event in both Irish and republican history I am writing to invite you to attend a special day of events on Saturday, 16th November 2013 which will culminate in a drama production and rally at the Rotunda on Parnell Square, Dublin at 7.30pm.

• Rebel Walking Tours – Meet at Sinn Féin Shop, 58 Parnell Square West. Tours start, 12noon, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm Cost: €5 Hear the story of Ireland’s fight for freedom as told by Irish Republicans. Visit the places where Ireland’s history unfolded.

Given the widespread interest in this event, it is certain to be filled to capacity so places need to be booked in advance. Please RSVP to stephen.mcglade@oireachtas.ie or before 10th November.

You will be sent a ticket, which you should bring with you to ensure you can attend this important occasion.
