    Hi Charles.
    Medal was issued in 1941.
Its the Non Combat version. The number may or may not be an issue number as the medals were issued without names and numbers. The recipients put their own names and numbers on. My grandfathers has his Garda service number on the back?
If the Medal has the same name as yours on the back could it be your fathers / grandfathers medal? It might mean he was awarded a military pension by the Irish Government. You can contact them with the name and number and see what you can find.
But the best place would be to ask any relatives or check family pictures or documents. Or perhaps if you know your Irish family history..where they came from etc. If the name is just a coincidence the research vai Irish army archives.
    Regards
    Seán
