Mr. Robert Briscoe (centre) accompanied by sons, Mr. Ben Briscoe, T.D., and Captain. Joseph Briscoe, O/C 11th Field Medical Company, FCA, arriving at the Adelaide Road Jewish Synagogue for the ‘1916 Easter Rising’ service of prayer and thanksgiving which was held during the week long commemorations held in 1966.

Robert or ‘Bob’ Briscoe was well known for being a Jewish Lord Mayor of Dublin and he also a TD. He was active in the Irish War of Independence. Briscoe was sent to Germany in 1919 to procure arms for the IRA.
