Hi James, I have just come across this post on the 6th Battalion .
My father William Keane and his brother Sean were active serving members of E Company 6th Batt. old IRA.
I would love to see any pics or information you have about the period.
Recently I got a copy of my fathers old IRA pension application form and it makes interesting reading ,also have some pics of the company .

    regds, Brendan Keane.

Its definitely staged as there is another one in existence which is taken of the same men posing for a photo in what I believe to be the vicinity of Leapordstown Racecourse stables. Do you mind me asking where you got this? I have been researching the Sixth Battalion for some time now but have yet to see this photo. The other photo Im talking about is featured in Liam Clare’s ‘Foxrock and Cabinteely Memories’ and is almost certainly taken at the same time as the men are wearing identical clothes.
    Kind Regards,

      Hi James
I think one of the men in the photo is the father of Brian S Nolan of the curtain shop in Dun Laoghaire
