I am trying to research the irish part of my family history. My father is Patrick Clancy and the memorial was set up by his family. It was erected to commemorate the loss of this family members during the Irish war of independence. I Would like to know more about what happened to this side of my family could any one be able to help with my request. I would be very grateful
Tommy Conlon:
These are my wife’s two uncles and Grandfather. Pat was making his way to the family home when caught by the Black & Tans, aged 19 he was executed at the spot of the memorial. Within 5 months his brother Martin was killed in action not far from his brother fell. Larry went onto to serve through the War of Independence and later the Civil War. The brothers were well known Republicans in the Tipperary area, and apparently when Pat was getting buried, his Father was heard say to the B&T and RIC, you may killed one of my sons but I’ve more that will take up the fight.
I am a relative of Ellen ‘Nellie’ Clancy, Magowry, Drangan, wife of Capt.Laurence Clancy.
Does anyone have a date of birth and/or death for Ellen and a date of birth for Laurence?
