Greetings,

 

I seek your help to identity the people in the attached photo (original scan plus a second version of with numbers attached to each person for ease of identification.

I do so as I came across Diarmuid O’Connor’s 2015 posting on of a photograph with my paternal grandmother (Miss Killeen, 2nd from right Second Row)

As his posting does not give the source of that photograph, I wondered it would be possible to me to inspect the original –

Doing so, I may be able to identify

  1. Who the photographer was, as the same person may have taken the photo that interests me;
  2. When the photo was taken, as I believe it was taken around the same time as the photos I attach;
  3. People from that photo who are also in the photograph that interests me. (BTW, I notice that that there are no names given for the middle 3rd rom

 

 

In my photo, the only people I can identify  – with certainty – are my paternal grandparents ie. 4. My grandmother( Marie Killeen, Maire Ní Cillín; 3. My grandfather Padraig O Brolchain, Patrick Bradley

 

The Tír agus Teanga text on the hatbands suggest that it too was taken to mark some Connradh na Gaeilge event or even before the formation of Connradh na Gaeilge.

As is clear my notes (attached), I am not at all sure of the identity of anyone else in the photo including the Arthur Griffith.  My grandparents were close to Arthur Griffith and his family.

My grandmother was involved in Connradh na Gaeilge and Inghinidhe na hÉireann

 

My grandfather was involved in the Celtic Literary Society and the Volunteers, as is clear from my grandmother’s her witness statement (https://bmh.militaryarchives.ie/reels/bmh/BMH.WS0321.pdf#page=1) .
