About Us

The I.V.C.O. is a non-political, non-profit organisation dedicated to recording and preserving the history and artifacts of the Irish Volunteers in the years 1913-1922.

The events which took place in this decade – the fight for Irish independence, the founding of the Irish state, partition of the island of Ireland and bloody civil war – still reverberate today.

It is hoped that our efforts can foster a better understanding of this turbulent period in Irish history, and a greater spirit of reconciliation in the future of Ireland.

What we do

In addition to collecting historical records and artifacts, the IVCO holds exhibitions, lectures and displays throughout Ireland.

We invite members and website users to share photos, written documents and oral histories from the era so that they can be preserved for future generations.

Get involved

Membership is international and open to all.. IVCO memberships and donations, no matter how small, allow us to continue and expand on our work.

Exhibitions

The I.V.C.O. holds exhibitions and displays throughout Ireland, telling the story of the Irish Volunteers with historical artifacts on view. Authors and historians are among our guest lecturers.

Past Exhibitions

Our last exhibition was held at the Hayes Hotel in Thurles, Co. Tipperary on October 18 and 19, 2014. We received a warm welcome from the people of Thurles over the weekend.
